What I am interested in Music is that, I am good in singing, playing keyboard which is why I am doing a course of Level 3 Music with another qualification course named Btech level 3 Music Course in Singing and I enjoyed doing my final major project this year like selecting the band members to perform in the final gig in this project. What I plan to do in the future is to get into university and it is Royal College or Royal academy of Music to do a one year course or get into one of the other universities in India to study like Delhi University etc, depending on the scholarship I get, If I get a good scholarship over here, I can continue my studies over here often I finish the this course for the rest of my life.

FMP-What I did for my Evaluation evaluating the Gig with my own skills
Today in my Composing class, I had elaborated on my research and Collaborations part and also my technical skills part describing of what it is like in my research, I described more about how I made a case ruddy, Bibliography and literature review and also Reffering to past and the future I talked about How I practiced my piano like for example, playing the black and white keys of the piano to make music etc. and also about how my work fits into the musical industry like I set myself targets of me practicing to become a keyboard player and pianist, selecting the band members of my choice and the song as well and rehearse and perform in the Gig as I will to for other projects when I get into university, this was very important and for my Gig and evaluation post, I uploaded a picture of me performing in the Gig and the actual video of the Gig. The time I had performed was 20.05 on the 24th of May. These were the most specific details I gave and my actual evaluation is just before my previous blog post Reffering to the questions in the Assignment Brief.

FMP-Diary for Evaluation Week 8
I have already done the Evaluation in my previous blogpost including some of the work in my own words from other blog posts which I copied and pasted from my previous blog posts to the previous one which is the Evaluation. What I plan to acheive is that, the evaluation is giving me another opportunity to improve my grade, especially things which were very important to include, I could include that in my previous blog post where I did my evaluation Reffering to the assignment brief. This is the final week of my final major project and I will allow my teachers to look at my blog as to how I did the Evaluation of the project. I had especially copied and pasted the Evaluation of the Gig into my evaluation. We need to anyway finalise the the evaluation and it should be ready for marking before the deadline of the evaluation on this Friday and next week the exam board meaning the examiners from the university of arts London are coming to check all the work we did so far and I hope I did well for it and should get a good grade to enter the second year. What I feel is that weekly updates, and writing about the rehearsals and evaluating the Gig were very important because this is what I planned to do on my own like selecting the band members, songs and lyrics to rehearse and perform in the Gig and of course research meaning academic research of other artists were very important as far as my written work is concerned to support me as to how and what I am doing in my project of my own choice.

FMP- Weeks 7 and 8-Evaluation
Critical analysis:-
My work can fit into the music industry for example when I performed very well in the Gig and practice my own music regularly and my pitching is good while I am singing, this will make bringing out fans by posting some of my videos of my rehearsals and other recordings on you tube and embedding them on my blog. Also I can talk about the rehearsals I did so far with the band members and also writing about my research in my own words so that my fans can see my progress as to how I am improving my skills and what I have done so far.
The areas I struggled with in this project were that, I first began to do good research which was good for finding out about music related stuff but began to do more irrelevant research in the beginning of this project, but then understood what I had to do for the research which was relevant to what I had performed in the final gig . I also struggled a little bit with the band rehearsals when they didn't have so much time to rehearse with me for enough time as they were in other songs with other bands as well for the gig. I kept recapping my parts and also told the band me,bears to do so.
With hindsight, what I would do differently and how will I improve in the upcoming projects in the
future is that I will have a think of what I am actually going to do and start forming opinions and do the relevant research and should focus on one aspect of the project and when I improve in other projects in the upcoming future when I go to university and also when I do my second year in college and when I get a job.
The problems which I overcame with my rehearsals is that not all the band members showed up on time because they were in other songs and with other bands. What I plan to do better in the future is that I would give the band members as to when they need to rehearse with me and if they don't turn up at all to rehearse with me to do a band performance in the gig, then I would decline their positions and whatever songs, I planned to perform I would perform them on my own and change the songs if I wish to do so and I would rehearse on my own while playing the keyboard or using backing tracks and I would even trim my backing track if I wish to do so if something in a particular song which I am going to perform doesn't sound good. I would even trim or shorten the backing track to make it sound good. This basically talks about how I will do for the future and to talk about it a little bit more, I will practice hard, Get the actual chords while playing the piano and practice with the lyrics and backing track while singing.
My professional work is related to my practical research and in comparison to other artists and the case study and online research articles are related to academic research.
Method:-
What I feel is that, the band members during the rehearsals and the gig have contributed very well. They were confident in what they were doing. Reece, who was the bass player was going to do the rap in American boy, but he didn't do that in the gig because we would go beyond time.
What I think about my rehearsals is that for example, In one of my rehearsals and Of course in my other rehearsals so far, not all the band members had time to rehearse with me. However, In the songwriting, Band workshop, and Composing classes where I book in access time, and also anytime when I am free, I ask my band members, When they want to rehearse. Now what I feel is that the best thing was that, If some of my band members were not ready rehearse and if some of them were ready to, I would take 1 or 2 people to rehearse the songs with me which we were going to perform for the gig, and if none of them were ready, I had just decided to rehearse on my own to recap my singing and playing, I had also told them to practice their parts. This was actually the best way for preparing to perform in the Gig.

In the beginning of this project, I was researching about Indian and Western Classical Music
including the Brief History and Crossover and Fusion of them. But after the Spring break, When I
thought About the project, My main Idea was to do a project in Such a way that it focuses on Voice
Pitching, Harmony and Keyboard Skills and also organise times to work together with friends as this was a collaborative project. So, I had to change my project to Pop Music and started researching about the Case study of Linkin Park and Research about Pop Music to put in my literature review and Bibliography.
Indian Pop music:-
Indian Pop music is also known as Indian Pop, Hindi Pop, Indie pop and Indie-Pop. It refers to Music in South Asia with a Play back singer named Ahmed Rushdi and his song was named as Koi Koi Karana in 1966. Indian pop music was also made in other countries like Nepal, Bangladesh and Shri Lanka as a pioneering influence of their respective pop culture. The term Indian Pop music generally refers to Studio album Music like Soundtrack and Indian Bollywood film songs, emotional pictures etc.
How my performance based collaborative project was relevant to this.
The songs which My band members had performed for the Gig are the songs related to Pop music.
The songs which we had performed are Wavin Flag by K'naan and American Boy by Estelle. K'naan who is the singer in Wavin Flag is a South African citizen but the song is in English. When people listen to pop music in Gigs, after each and every performance, they scream out while clapping for the performance.
My key areas of research are such as that I referred to one article named "Portugal:The man. It talks about a Man in which how he works in the music industry with his band and it also talks about that you should recap your individual parts for which you are going to perform with a band etc. Basically, this article talks about the pathways to success as a musician. There are other research methods I applied like Sources related to Pop music and sources to make a case study in detail of Linkin Park.
In hindsight, I would say that I had began to research Irrelevant stuff like Musical Ensembles like Green Day, Beatles, basically when I had done research for my music certificate coursework, I
planned to add that to my coursework of this one which is University of Arts London Level 3 Music Diploma Year 1 course.
What I would say is that I finally had the time to research and complete sufficient stuff related to my project and if I had more time, I could have researched more, but it was Okay. I made use of my student support lessons for my research work and I also did work on my own for whichever work Elliot who is my student support tutor told me to do. I could manage to do on my own.
What I have learnt that I can apply for other projects is that I will research relevant stuff and have a think of what I am going to do using the correct labels while doing a blog post and also pay attention to what I am writing.
I was able to synthesise my research into my work and the research methods I applied were I went to
various web pages for researching and found what was relevant to put in my project.
Why I had changed my project from Indian and western classical music into Pop Music was because, After the spring break, when the College resumed, I had an idea of how to perform with the band members in the gig, So I selected the band members and songs of my choice and had a listen, Researched the chords and lyrics and sent it to the band members via email and these songs were related to pop music. Therefore, I needed to change my project and had to research something which was actually relevant to my final product, like I did an actual case study of Linkin Park by referring to many sources especially wikipedia, and did some research on Pop music and put all of that research in a bibliography and typed what I understood by typing a literature review in the blog post and why I had decided to perform with my band members and selected the songs named Wavin Flag by K'naan and American Boy by Estelle, was because during the review week which happened last term in the funky junk project, My tutor told me to think of an final major project idea that focusses on Singing keyboard skills and Harmony and in the assignment brief it also told me to organise times to work together with friends in my project and what I found that this was a best way to do the project.
The things did not go so well, were that the song American boy by Estelle was in E major and it was very high for Alyx to sing and we were trying to transpose the notes down and up 2 to 3 semitones but then we decided to stick to the rehearsal as it is. This happened on a Tuesday during the band workshop. Another thing was that Kessanna wasn't in the College during the actual run through in the Song Castle of glass by Linkin Park, which is why we had to cancel this song, but luckily it was good that we cancelled it was so that we don't be under too much of pressure.
How the research has affected my project:-
When I did research about Pop music, In one of the articles it has said that pop music is often repeated especially when there was a video of a song embedded in that article named "Around the World". Similarly, when I was performing Wavin Flag by K'naan in the gig, some of the verses and two of the choruses kept on being repeated. What I feel is that, When I was performing in the gig, Wavin Flag by K'naan, I shouldn't have song the whole song and sang a particular phrase which was repeated only once, but it was Ok. I realised that the research taught me that when one performs in the stage to an audience, One shouldn't keep singing the same phrases over and over again. Maybe, when one is singing a song with a backing track, one can at least cut some parts of the song using logic which would be comfortable for them.
What I also feel that, in the beginning of this project, I was not as focussed in term of what I wanted to achieve from this project, It took shapes as I went along and went deeper into it by researching other music in other directions. Eventually, I got an idea of the songs which I was planning to perform in the gig. So I didn't delete those blog post and kept it as part of the project because the final major project anyway takes a lot of time and takes a lot more work to finish the work.
What I did to find out in my research is that is I had been reading through as many sources as I could and for which my research to be relevant, I went through many articles especially Linkin Park, and the what I understood I did one blog post and and put the names of the authors like who said what meaning which author wrote what point in the paragraphs which I wrote in my case study referring to the articles in the Internet for research to avoid doing plagiarism.
This is how I could find it, meaning I kept doing research as part of practice for my project and in the beginning of this project as I said before was really irrelevant but the Articles related to Pop music and the case study of Linkin Park was more relevant for written work to support and to show what is similar to what I am rehearsing to for the Summer Gig as part of my project.
It was also useful to me and how it was useful is that I could get to learn about other artists in this project in a band who got influenced with another band and together made their own music. There was nothing left for me to do, I felt that it was enough for me as I had been working with Elliot who is my support tutor. The specific thing for thing for Linkin park is that the band of Linkin Park is that all the band members of Linkin Park is that it got influenced by a band named J-Z and what they did was that they mixed their own songs together and made mashed it up together. The name of that particular song of Linkin Park was Numb-Encore which was released on 3 September 2004. Linkin park's song named Numb was released on September 2003 and as well as Jay-Z's song Encore and then when they mixed up together to make an actual song of it when it got mixed and influenced with each other by Linkin park and Jay-Z, It was released on 3 September 2004.
In conclusion, In the middle of the project and even before when I researched Irrelevant stuff for my research, I could make a good progress for my research work including the relevant research which I did after I was told to do some more relevant research taking help of my student support stuff.
The articles and websites where I researched for written work are part of my Academic research and the rehearsals which I talked about so far and performance based stuff are related to practical research.
All of the research articles are related to academic research and it can also be related to practical research because, what I did as part of rehearsals and performed in the gig and also doing written work for these sources to support and inspire me of what I am doing for this project.
According to my research, I got to learn about Pop music, especially when it was being repeated, When I was performing the Song Wavin Flag by Knaan, This song was being repeated by my while performing in most of the verses and especially in the last two verses, when the lyrics goes like "and then it goes back, and
then it goes back".
The case study is also related to Pop music, However we were going to perform this song in the Gig, But we cancelled it because, It would be too much f a pressure and some of my band members were not present during the run through.
Technical/Practical skills:-
I had also been playing musical notes and pieces in my music theory classes and learning about
various types of music theory. I had also been practicing at home and in my college instrumental lessons which were, Making my own music while playing the black and white keys separately and practicing Arppeggio versions of the musical keys like for example the musical notes in C major are C D E F G A B C and the Arppeggio version of it is C E G C G E C meaning the alternate notes of the scale and the C an octave higher C E G is known as a triad meaning a three note chord and its
known as a major triad and a minor triad is C E flat G. Flats and sharp means the black keys instead of the white keys and white keys instead of Black keys, Depending upon the tones and semitones. What usually makes a major scale is Tone, Tone, Semitone, Tone, Tone, Tone, Semitone.
What methodologies,I had used in my music performance last term were the Minibrute analog synthesiser and vocal transformer. I also use keyboard and piano to play and sing as well.
These help me to go in tune,with the beat and within time. I find it interesting. Also to organise myself and choose the band members and songs to practice together and individually recap our parts for the Gig.
When I had been practicing my Keyboard and piano, I didn't refer to musical notes so much when I practice alone but unless there was a musical assessment for me, I would sometimes do it while practicing my own songs. However, as part of music theory I had been learning about musical notes which included some playing in theory classes.
During this project and in any other project when I begin to perform with a group of band, I try and find out the exact chords to practice and even if we do something which is different meaning when the chords are not the same which I worked, I always pay attention as to how we will rehearse and perform better in the Gig, or any other performances related to music.
Besides this coming back to the actual project and the practical sessions for the whole course,
Whenever we are decided to prepare a song to rehearse with the band, I always go to the to look it up and note it down, but what we actually practice and perform for the Gig, The chord progressions and tuning structure sound different meaning that we make it sound different in the sense that it depends on are the band members happy about the way we are rehearsing, If not we try to transpose the key one or two semitones back and forth depending upon the way we perform it.
My research has informed my practical work by Referring to an Article named "Portugal:The man,
which explains about how to success as a musician and also when I researched about a case study of Linkin Park which talks about how they were taking some samples of Music and putting it into their own work to make Pop music, For example Linkin Park's Song Numb and Jay Z's song named encore got influenced with each other and both these bands mixed their songs together and named it
Numb/Encore.
The skills I have developed in order of Completing this Project are setting myself a target like
Choosing Band members of my choice, selecting songs and researching chords and lyrics of those songs and also technical targets which I practiced are using the black keys to play on the piano and
white keys as well to create my own music which I had been doing in my instrumental lessons and
practicing Arpeggio versions of musical Scales. Basically being independent while doing music projects individually unlike teachers making the pairs of the band and Giving actual task, But in this final major project, It is basically doing a lot of work related to your own choice and focus on that
particular aspect of the product and you can also change if you wish to do so.
Overall, I feel my practical skills have developed sufficiently during the course of this project by

What I would also like to say more for my practical meaning performance skills is that they are technical accurate but I would work more into improving Dynamic skills to bring more musicality for whichever songs, I am performing and also make the most of my rehearsals in future and time management with whatever I do in music.
Project management/Working Methods:-
The problems I encountered during the final major project were that I had problem in my written work which is why I had student Support lessons with Elliot who could help me with my Coursework and hence I could also research relevant and sufficient stuff for my project.
Overall, I can say that I have completed my work I intended to create for this project but on Friday
which is the deadline for the written work, I will take the King of help I possibly can from Elliot
when I go to him for student Support and my other teachers of what I need to elaborate more in my work before the deadline but whatever work I did taking help from my teachers and student support tutor was done by me on my own and also taking help in my student support lessons.
I did too much of work for this whole term for my project in so many blog posts labelled FMP. For the irrelevant research I did, I would like to keep them in my blog as part of reference along with my
relevant stuff such as Pop music, Rehearsal and FMP Diaries and Weekly Updates etc.
How I made the access time available to me is that I could rehearse myself individually and with the
band members during songwriting and band workshop sessions and also booking access time on Mondays and Fridays during the Composing classes and other timetabled classes if we had time to practice and as part of access time for written work, I didn't go to any room to do my work. I could just simply do it at home and wherever I felt comfortable sitting in the college when I didn't have classes.
The irrelevant stuff which I researched affected my project in such a way that it was not matching as to what I was performing for the Gig, So then I was told to research something relevant taking help
from my student support tutor to research but the kind of irrelevant research was also good because, it was preparing me to do this project and what I was saying is that I was preparing to do better while going on further doing this project. But I could manage.
Collaboration:-
Kenny, Alyx, Kesanna, and Reece worked with me in my actual project as I chose these people to rehearse and perform in the Gig. The role that they filled in my project were that Kenny played the
Drums, Reece played the Bass and I played and did the vocals while performing the song Wavin Flag by K'naan and in the second Song which was American Boy by Estelle, I played the Piano using the Guitar/Bass sound, Reece played the Bass, Kenny played the drums, Alyx did the vocals and Kessanna did the harmonisation as part of the Vocals. In the beginning of this project, I had also
included Hasna and Marco, But they had declined their positions to perform due to their other
personal situations and other performances and basically busy with their other work for their project. This was very enjoyable to perform and rehearse with them and some of the problems we
encountered were that when the full band wasn't present during the run through like for example, We had to Cancel the Song Castle of Glass by Linkin Park to perform because Kessanna who was doing the vocals in this song was absent and also we didn't have so much time to rehearse together. During the rehearsal time, I kept taking band members who had time to rehearse. How I overcame with these problems were that I kept telling the band members to recap their parts so that we could be on the same track to perform in the Gig and what I felt that it was good that we cancelled the song Castle of Glass by Linkin Park because we would have been in lot of pressure. This experience was fun in the
sense that we enjoyed performing together in the Gig.
During the Month of March in the beginning of this project, I had worked with other people during the Composing class with Farz doing some collaborations in Logic which were somebody made a piece of music and I had to match the tuning structure along with it. It was very interesting and it is similar to performance because we say that when we perform, we should come in within time and with the beat and tune for it to sound good.
This Gig was a ver fantastic Gig performed by all of us from the Level 3 Music Department. I was the one who selected the band Members of My choice and the Songs which we performed were Wavin Flag by K'naan and American Boy by Estelle. We were about to perform Castle of Glass by Linkin Park but unfortunately we had to cancel it because, Kessana wasn't present during the run through which happened before last week but thankfully we could perform the other two songs for the Gig.
In Wavin Flag by K'naan,I sang as I played the Chords using a Guitar/ Bass Sound, Reece played the Bass and Kenny played the Drums. In American Boy, I played the Piano, Kenny played the Drums, Reece played the Bass, Alyx did the vocals and Kessanna did the Harmonisation along with it. It was a good performance by me and my band members, even though I felt that we should've practiced some more, but it was Ok, because they were in many other songs for the Gig with other band members as well, So it was quite hectic for them. I had anyway told them to practice and recap their parts and in the meanwhile during rehearsals and free time, I also practiced and recapped my parts so that we could be on track for the songs, Which is why we managed to perform well. I had
worked very hard to select and choose the band members of my choice and songs as well. In Wavin Flag by K'naan,In the Beginning I began to say Give you freedom,Give you fire when it was actually Give me Freedom Give me fire,but it was still Ok ,because the song still means the same thing. Usually when we all practice songs, the sound of the verses sound the same but the lyrics is different and usually what happens is that it minimises interference in attention, but we could still perform well and confidently. In American Boy, Reece didn't actually do the rap which was ok, because we needed to manage our time for this entire gig to actually happen as there were more performances after my one.
I also liked the other performances by other band members, and also I need to tell you that the theatre was devided into two stages which were the Main stage and the Acoustic stage. The main stage was used by a number of large band members to perform and the acoustic stage was used by one or two people and
even a small band performing.
I liked Marco's Song led me down in which He expresses his feelings while singing, He sang with Alyx and Mimi
playing the Piano.
In one of the songs of Kenny's and Alyx's band, Kenny was a bit nervous when he was singing on stage as he
had messed up with some parts of the lyrics but it was ok, then he managed to sing properly and confidently.
I also liked Alyx's singing performance which included two girls dancing in one of the songs which became like a musical theatre than an actual band performing because of the dance. It was amazing.
I also liked Russa's song with the band in the song Rolling smoke which she sang that in the Easter gig when we were doing our Funky junk project, But in the Easter gig, Alyx was also doing the
Harmonisation in that song.
Overall, I would say that this was a good Gig and it was good that the Gig was devided into two stages so that the Bands could perform comfortably and confidently and would not have any problems, However before the start of each and every performance, the performance took a little time to tune their instruments, especially the Guitarists and Bass players but it was still ok,Which was why they could perform well.
I also liked Mimi Singing one of her songs and one of the songs which Inspired me the most was a song which basically talks about life meaning one of her original songs and as she kept singing her songs, There were also some pictures on the screen of her family and when she was with Mathew. There were also some short video clips related to when she was with Mathew.
I had thanked my band members who performed well with me in the Gig and also special thanks to some of the music production students to perform in the Gig.
Before the performance started, I enjoyed listening to the tracks which the music production people made like some of them like Kessana who made an EP3 and many other students who made their tracks to make it sound nice for people to hear and listen to some music before the actual performance started.
One of Grant's sound engineers liked the song Wavin Flag by K'naan when I performed in the Gig last night because my singing was sounding very good while playing the piano using Guitar/Bass sounds. I also gave the introduction to the songs very nicely as I had to give and I was the leader of my band. I had first included Marco and Hasna in my band as well but unfortunately they had to
decline their positions due to personal situations, but I was happy with the way the band members performed with me and there was quite enough of band members to rehearse and perform with me in last evening Gig. In the beginning of this project, I was just forming opinions of band members.
Olly was very pleased with the performance that happened last night in the Gig. Grant was also very pleased with my singing especially in the sound check and he said that it was sounding very good. After the Gig got over, I planned to meet my teachers and they were very happy with the way I performed.
Everything related to Collaborations is related to my practical research.
- My work was mainly focussed on keyboard skills and singing, I refer to an Artist named Billie Joel and the name of his song which I have previously learnt and listened to which is Piano Man. He is playing the piano very well and Singing in a higher pitch in the Choruses in the song and in a lower pitch when he sings the verses. When he sings in a higher pitch, His voice is sounding as if a female is singing that verse. Why I think that is important is because his voice is perfect and because of his voice, the audience is enjoying a lot and he is moving up and down while playing the piano working on Dynamics.
- He is performing individually in front of many people and his voice is loud and clear when he performs. In Comparison to my work, I had performed with a band in the final Gig. The songs which I had performed were Wavin Flag by K'naan and American boy by Estelle, What I felt about my performance is that it was good but in the Verses of the Song Wavin Flag were minimizing my interference in attention like In the first verse, the actual words are "Give me freedom, Give me fire and the Mistake was that I ended up saying "Give you freedom give you fire". But, I felt that it was nothing bad in doing these kind of Mistake. However, I practiced a lot when I had booked access time during rehearsals.
- What I would like to say is that, As I was playing piano using guitar/bass sound, I didn't play soft and loud at the same time to bring musicality, I would only do that if I was performing alone, but as I was performing with a band, I played the piano and sang louder to be a successful performer engaging with the Audience.
- I think, I can do better like he is doing, meaning when I practice in anything related to music while playing piano, I will work on my dynamic versions and continue to work on my pitches to get better and better. What I feel that if I am singing, I will also make sure as to how to make a good ending, Like for example, not to sing the verses repeatedly meaning, sing and play piano to perform in such a way that I stick to the time limit and also to not make the audience feel so bored. So maybe, when I sing and play to perform next time, I will sing each and every verse and chorus once and try to make an actual performance as to how it is sounding like. In comparison to the song Piano Man by Billie Joel, The lyrics of the song are different but the musical tune is being repetitive while performance while playing. When I was also singing Wavin Flag by Knaan, Some of the verses including the lyrics were being repetitive while I was singing and playing while performing, So now what I feel is that as to not make my performance in the future last for a long period of time, If there are two are three verses which are being repeated are being repeated for two more times, I will remember to sing it only once. Especially, the lyrics when it keeps getting repetitive from time to time.
My work can fit into the music industry for example when I performed very well in the Gig and practice my own music regularly and my pitching is good while I am singing, this will make bringing out fans by posting some of my videos of my rehearsals and other recordings on you tube and embedding them on my blog. Also I can talk about the rehearsals I did so far with the band members and also writing about my research in my own words so that my fans can see my progress as to how I am improving my skills and what I have done so far.
The areas I struggled with in this project were that, I first began to do good research which was good for finding out about music related stuff but began to do more irrelevant research in the beginning of this project, but then understood what I had to do for the research which was relevant to what I had performed in the final gig . I also struggled a little bit with the band rehearsals when they didn't have so much time to rehearse with me for enough time as they were in other songs with other bands as well for the gig. I kept recapping my parts and also told the band me,bears to do so.
With hindsight, what I would do differently and how will I improve in the upcoming projects in the
future is that I will have a think of what I am actually going to do and start forming opinions and do the relevant research and should focus on one aspect of the project and when I improve in other projects in the upcoming future when I go to university and also when I do my second year in college and when I get a job.
The problems which I overcame with my rehearsals is that not all the band members showed up on time because they were in other songs and with other bands. What I plan to do better in the future is that I would give the band members as to when they need to rehearse with me and if they don't turn up at all to rehearse with me to do a band performance in the gig, then I would decline their positions and whatever songs, I planned to perform I would perform them on my own and change the songs if I wish to do so and I would rehearse on my own while playing the keyboard or using backing tracks and I would even trim my backing track if I wish to do so if something in a particular song which I am going to perform doesn't sound good. I would even trim or shorten the backing track to make it sound good. This basically talks about how I will do for the future and to talk about it a little bit more, I will practice hard, Get the actual chords while playing the piano and practice with the lyrics and backing track while singing.
My professional work is related to my practical research and in comparison to other artists and the case study and online research articles are related to academic research.

In the beginning of this project, I was researching about Indian and Western Classical Music
including the Brief History and Crossover and Fusion of them. But after the Spring break, When I
thought About the project, My main Idea was to do a project in Such a way that it focuses on Voice
Pitching, Harmony and Keyboard Skills and also organise times to work together with friends as this was a collaborative project. So, I had to change my project to Pop Music and started researching about the Case study of Linkin Park and Research about Pop Music to put in my literature review and Bibliography.
Indian Pop music:-
Indian Pop music is also known as Indian Pop, Hindi Pop, Indie pop and Indie-Pop. It refers to Music in South Asia with a Play back singer named Ahmed Rushdi and his song was named as Koi Koi Karana in 1966. Indian pop music was also made in other countries like Nepal, Bangladesh and Shri Lanka as a pioneering influence of their respective pop culture. The term Indian Pop music generally refers to Studio album Music like Soundtrack and Indian Bollywood film songs, emotional pictures etc.
How my performance based collaborative project was relevant to this.
The songs which My band members had performed for the Gig are the songs related to Pop music.
The songs which we had performed are Wavin Flag by K'naan and American Boy by Estelle. K'naan who is the singer in Wavin Flag is a South African citizen but the song is in English. When people listen to pop music in Gigs, after each and every performance, they scream out while clapping for the performance.
Pop music is a term used to describe popular music, it is a genre of music that is influenced by many other musical styles. David Hatch and Steven Millward define pop music as a type of music which contains Popular,Jazz and Folk Musics. The definition of pop music is deliberately flexible as the music that is identified as pop is constantly changing. The term "Pop song" was first recorded in 1926.
Modern popular music and rock and Pop music can be related to western music also because,There are mostly English Songs.It is more to be performed with a band in Gig, One can also perform themselves as well in the sense of "piece of music having popular appeal". People also like listening to Pop music when they are free at home,When they are driving and when they listen to the super hit songs in the radio and it can also provide them entertainment for them.

According to me, Pop music can also be performed by rockstars and other musicians in concerts like Razz Matazz and So on. Pop music has often been repeated meaning, In some songs, or even more songs,there are repetitions. The lyrics and Musical tune are the same like for example in a song named around the world.
My idea is that,When we are selecting a set of songs, especially when singing with a group of band and also performing on r own way, There has to be a time limit like for example, If you are singing Six songs for making a 25 minute performance, You must sing some of the lyrics of each song to make it work nicely and it only comes by practicing. If you sing the all the songs continuously meaning if you are singing one whole song and similarly if you sing the whole lyrics of other songs, that is also good means you are confident of singing the whole song and have learnt the whole lyrics of the songs to perform, but the Audience may get bored and not enjoy it because
same things are being repeated over and over again. So it is better to cut some parts of the pop songs you are
performing and work on the time limit to prepare for your performance.

If you are performing individually, then it is up to you how you want to perform but do keep practicing and don't let it go down.
In hindsight, I would say that I had began to research Irrelevant stuff like Musical Ensembles like Green Day, Beatles, basically when I had done research for my music certificate coursework, I
planned to add that to my coursework of this one which is University of Arts London Level 3 Music Diploma Year 1 course.
What I would say is that I finally had the time to research and complete sufficient stuff related to my project and if I had more time, I could have researched more, but it was Okay. I made use of my student support lessons for my research work and I also did work on my own for whichever work Elliot who is my student support tutor told me to do. I could manage to do on my own.
What I have learnt that I can apply for other projects is that I will research relevant stuff and have a think of what I am going to do using the correct labels while doing a blog post and also pay attention to what I am writing.
I was able to synthesise my research into my work and the research methods I applied were I went to
various web pages for researching and found what was relevant to put in my project.
Why I had changed my project from Indian and western classical music into Pop Music was because, After the spring break, when the College resumed, I had an idea of how to perform with the band members in the gig, So I selected the band members and songs of my choice and had a listen, Researched the chords and lyrics and sent it to the band members via email and these songs were related to pop music. Therefore, I needed to change my project and had to research something which was actually relevant to my final product, like I did an actual case study of Linkin Park by referring to many sources especially wikipedia, and did some research on Pop music and put all of that research in a bibliography and typed what I understood by typing a literature review in the blog post and why I had decided to perform with my band members and selected the songs named Wavin Flag by K'naan and American Boy by Estelle, was because during the review week which happened last term in the funky junk project, My tutor told me to think of an final major project idea that focusses on Singing keyboard skills and Harmony and in the assignment brief it also told me to organise times to work together with friends in my project and what I found that this was a best way to do the project.
The things did not go so well, were that the song American boy by Estelle was in E major and it was very high for Alyx to sing and we were trying to transpose the notes down and up 2 to 3 semitones but then we decided to stick to the rehearsal as it is. This happened on a Tuesday during the band workshop. Another thing was that Kessanna wasn't in the College during the actual run through in the Song Castle of glass by Linkin Park, which is why we had to cancel this song, but luckily it was good that we cancelled it was so that we don't be under too much of pressure.
How the research has affected my project:-
When I did research about Pop music, In one of the articles it has said that pop music is often repeated especially when there was a video of a song embedded in that article named "Around the World". Similarly, when I was performing Wavin Flag by K'naan in the gig, some of the verses and two of the choruses kept on being repeated. What I feel is that, When I was performing in the gig, Wavin Flag by K'naan, I shouldn't have song the whole song and sang a particular phrase which was repeated only once, but it was Ok. I realised that the research taught me that when one performs in the stage to an audience, One shouldn't keep singing the same phrases over and over again. Maybe, when one is singing a song with a backing track, one can at least cut some parts of the song using logic which would be comfortable for them.
What I also feel that, in the beginning of this project, I was not as focussed in term of what I wanted to achieve from this project, It took shapes as I went along and went deeper into it by researching other music in other directions. Eventually, I got an idea of the songs which I was planning to perform in the gig. So I didn't delete those blog post and kept it as part of the project because the final major project anyway takes a lot of time and takes a lot more work to finish the work.
What I did to find out in my research is that is I had been reading through as many sources as I could and for which my research to be relevant, I went through many articles especially Linkin Park, and the what I understood I did one blog post and and put the names of the authors like who said what meaning which author wrote what point in the paragraphs which I wrote in my case study referring to the articles in the Internet for research to avoid doing plagiarism.
This is how I could find it, meaning I kept doing research as part of practice for my project and in the beginning of this project as I said before was really irrelevant but the Articles related to Pop music and the case study of Linkin Park was more relevant for written work to support and to show what is similar to what I am rehearsing to for the Summer Gig as part of my project.
It was also useful to me and how it was useful is that I could get to learn about other artists in this project in a band who got influenced with another band and together made their own music. There was nothing left for me to do, I felt that it was enough for me as I had been working with Elliot who is my support tutor. The specific thing for thing for Linkin park is that the band of Linkin Park is that all the band members of Linkin Park is that it got influenced by a band named J-Z and what they did was that they mixed their own songs together and made mashed it up together. The name of that particular song of Linkin Park was Numb-Encore which was released on 3 September 2004. Linkin park's song named Numb was released on September 2003 and as well as Jay-Z's song Encore and then when they mixed up together to make an actual song of it when it got mixed and influenced with each other by Linkin park and Jay-Z, It was released on 3 September 2004.
In conclusion, In the middle of the project and even before when I researched Irrelevant stuff for my research, I could make a good progress for my research work including the relevant research which I did after I was told to do some more relevant research taking help of my student support stuff.
The articles and websites where I researched for written work are part of my Academic research and the rehearsals which I talked about so far and performance based stuff are related to practical research.
All of the research articles are related to academic research and it can also be related to practical research because, what I did as part of rehearsals and performed in the gig and also doing written work for these sources to support and inspire me of what I am doing for this project.
According to my research, I got to learn about Pop music, especially when it was being repeated, When I was performing the Song Wavin Flag by Knaan, This song was being repeated by my while performing in most of the verses and especially in the last two verses, when the lyrics goes like "and then it goes back, and
then it goes back".
The case study is also related to Pop music, However we were going to perform this song in the Gig, But we cancelled it because, It would be too much f a pressure and some of my band members were not present during the run through.
Technical/Practical skills:-
I had also been playing musical notes and pieces in my music theory classes and learning about
various types of music theory. I had also been practicing at home and in my college instrumental lessons which were, Making my own music while playing the black and white keys separately and practicing Arppeggio versions of the musical keys like for example the musical notes in C major are C D E F G A B C and the Arppeggio version of it is C E G C G E C meaning the alternate notes of the scale and the C an octave higher C E G is known as a triad meaning a three note chord and its
known as a major triad and a minor triad is C E flat G. Flats and sharp means the black keys instead of the white keys and white keys instead of Black keys, Depending upon the tones and semitones. What usually makes a major scale is Tone, Tone, Semitone, Tone, Tone, Tone, Semitone.
What methodologies,I had used in my music performance last term were the Minibrute analog synthesiser and vocal transformer. I also use keyboard and piano to play and sing as well.
These help me to go in tune,with the beat and within time. I find it interesting. Also to organise myself and choose the band members and songs to practice together and individually recap our parts for the Gig.
When I had been practicing my Keyboard and piano, I didn't refer to musical notes so much when I practice alone but unless there was a musical assessment for me, I would sometimes do it while practicing my own songs. However, as part of music theory I had been learning about musical notes which included some playing in theory classes.
During this project and in any other project when I begin to perform with a group of band, I try and find out the exact chords to practice and even if we do something which is different meaning when the chords are not the same which I worked, I always pay attention as to how we will rehearse and perform better in the Gig, or any other performances related to music.
Besides this coming back to the actual project and the practical sessions for the whole course,
Whenever we are decided to prepare a song to rehearse with the band, I always go to the to look it up and note it down, but what we actually practice and perform for the Gig, The chord progressions and tuning structure sound different meaning that we make it sound different in the sense that it depends on are the band members happy about the way we are rehearsing, If not we try to transpose the key one or two semitones back and forth depending upon the way we perform it.
My research has informed my practical work by Referring to an Article named "Portugal:The man,
which explains about how to success as a musician and also when I researched about a case study of Linkin Park which talks about how they were taking some samples of Music and putting it into their own work to make Pop music, For example Linkin Park's Song Numb and Jay Z's song named encore got influenced with each other and both these bands mixed their songs together and named it
Numb/Encore.
The skills I have developed in order of Completing this Project are setting myself a target like
Choosing Band members of my choice, selecting songs and researching chords and lyrics of those songs and also technical targets which I practiced are using the black keys to play on the piano and
white keys as well to create my own music which I had been doing in my instrumental lessons and
practicing Arpeggio versions of musical Scales. Basically being independent while doing music projects individually unlike teachers making the pairs of the band and Giving actual task, But in this final major project, It is basically doing a lot of work related to your own choice and focus on that
particular aspect of the product and you can also change if you wish to do so.
Overall, I feel my practical skills have developed sufficiently during the course of this project by

What I would also like to say more for my practical meaning performance skills is that they are technical accurate but I would work more into improving Dynamic skills to bring more musicality for whichever songs, I am performing and also make the most of my rehearsals in future and time management with whatever I do in music.

For the Overall rehearsals including the ones whom I could see some of the band members to rehearse with me and the sound check, We could rehearse very well and I could see all of them and all of them rehearsed with me and I also told them to practice their parts which is why the
performance went very well while performing in the final gig.
All these things which I have talked about in my practical skills are related to my Practical research.
Overall, What I can say about my practical skills is that I am getting better and I can do the best. Like in this project, I got a special opportunity to do what my interest was which was a performances along with research and anything which I did was related to this work as part of my written work to support me.

The problems I encountered during the final major project were that I had problem in my written work which is why I had student Support lessons with Elliot who could help me with my Coursework and hence I could also research relevant and sufficient stuff for my project.
Overall, I can say that I have completed my work I intended to create for this project but on Friday
which is the deadline for the written work, I will take the King of help I possibly can from Elliot
when I go to him for student Support and my other teachers of what I need to elaborate more in my work before the deadline but whatever work I did taking help from my teachers and student support tutor was done by me on my own and also taking help in my student support lessons.
I did too much of work for this whole term for my project in so many blog posts labelled FMP. For the irrelevant research I did, I would like to keep them in my blog as part of reference along with my
relevant stuff such as Pop music, Rehearsal and FMP Diaries and Weekly Updates etc.
How I made the access time available to me is that I could rehearse myself individually and with the
band members during songwriting and band workshop sessions and also booking access time on Mondays and Fridays during the Composing classes and other timetabled classes if we had time to practice and as part of access time for written work, I didn't go to any room to do my work. I could just simply do it at home and wherever I felt comfortable sitting in the college when I didn't have classes.

How the access time was available to me was that, I could take in people to rehearse with me only for those band members which I have selected and if they were free meaning when they had time. I did that in one to one basis meaning I took Reece individually then Alyx and Kenny if it was possible for them. Kenny, Alyx, Kesanna, and Reece worked with me in my actual project as I chose these people to rehearse and perform in the Gig. The role that they filled in my project were that Kenny played the
Drums, Reece played the Bass and I played and did the vocals while performing the song Wavin Flag by K'naan and in the second Song which was American Boy by Estelle, I played the Piano using the Guitar/Bass sound, Reece played the Bass, Kenny played the drums, Alyx did the vocals and Kessanna did the harmonisation as part of the Vocals. In the beginning of this project, I had also
included Hasna and Marco, But they had declined their positions to perform due to their other
personal situations and other performances and basically busy with their other work for their project. This was very enjoyable to perform and rehearse with them and some of the problems we
encountered were that when the full band wasn't present during the run through like for example, We had to Cancel the Song Castle of Glass by Linkin Park to perform because Kessanna who was doing the vocals in this song was absent and also we didn't have so much time to rehearse together. During the rehearsal time, I kept taking band members who had time to rehearse. How I overcame with these problems were that I kept telling the band members to recap their parts so that we could be on the same track to perform in the Gig and what I felt that it was good that we cancelled the song Castle of Glass by Linkin Park because we would have been in lot of pressure. This experience was fun in the
sense that we enjoyed performing together in the Gig.
During the Month of March in the beginning of this project, I had worked with other people during the Composing class with Farz doing some collaborations in Logic which were somebody made a piece of music and I had to match the tuning structure along with it. It was very interesting and it is similar to performance because we say that when we perform, we should come in within time and with the beat and tune for it to sound good.
The problems which I overcame with my rehearsals is that not all the band members showed up on time because they were in other songs and with other bands. What I plan to do better in the future is that I would give the band members as to when they need to rehearse with me and if they don't turn up at all to rehearse with me to do a band performance in the gig, then I would decline their positions and whatever songs, I planned to perform I would perform them on my own and change the songs if I wish to do so and I would rehearse on my own while playing the keyboard or using backing tracks and I would even trim my backing track if I wish to do so if something in a particular song which I am going to perform doesn't sound good. I would even trim or shorten the backing track to make it sound good. This basically talks about how I will do for the future and to talk about it a little bit more, I will practice hard, Get the actual chords while playing the piano and practice with the lyrics and backing track while singing.

what I did with my band members in the final Gig as this is the main thing related to my final product of this project.

This Gig was a ver fantastic Gig performed by all of us from the Level 3 Music Department. I was the one who selected the band Members of My choice and the Songs which we performed were Wavin Flag by K'naan and American Boy by Estelle. We were about to perform Castle of Glass by Linkin Park but unfortunately we had to cancel it because, Kessana wasn't present during the run through which happened before last week but thankfully we could perform the other two songs for the Gig.
In Wavin Flag by K'naan,I sang as I played the Chords using a Guitar/ Bass Sound, Reece played the Bass and Kenny played the Drums. In American Boy, I played the Piano, Kenny played the Drums, Reece played the Bass, Alyx did the vocals and Kessanna did the Harmonisation along with it. It was a good performance by me and my band members, even though I felt that we should've practiced some more, but it was Ok, because they were in many other songs for the Gig with other band members as well, So it was quite hectic for them. I had anyway told them to practice and recap their parts and in the meanwhile during rehearsals and free time, I also practiced and recapped my parts so that we could be on track for the songs, Which is why we managed to perform well. I had
worked very hard to select and choose the band members of my choice and songs as well. In Wavin Flag by K'naan,In the Beginning I began to say Give you freedom,Give you fire when it was actually Give me Freedom Give me fire,but it was still Ok ,because the song still means the same thing. Usually when we all practice songs, the sound of the verses sound the same but the lyrics is different and usually what happens is that it minimises interference in attention, but we could still perform well and confidently. In American Boy, Reece didn't actually do the rap which was ok, because we needed to manage our time for this entire gig to actually happen as there were more performances after my one.
I also liked the other performances by other band members, and also I need to tell you that the theatre was devided into two stages which were the Main stage and the Acoustic stage. The main stage was used by a number of large band members to perform and the acoustic stage was used by one or two people and
even a small band performing.
I liked Marco's Song led me down in which He expresses his feelings while singing, He sang with Alyx and Mimi
playing the Piano.
In one of the songs of Kenny's and Alyx's band, Kenny was a bit nervous when he was singing on stage as he
had messed up with some parts of the lyrics but it was ok, then he managed to sing properly and confidently.
I also liked Alyx's singing performance which included two girls dancing in one of the songs which became like a musical theatre than an actual band performing because of the dance. It was amazing.
I also liked Russa's song with the band in the song Rolling smoke which she sang that in the Easter gig when we were doing our Funky junk project, But in the Easter gig, Alyx was also doing the
Harmonisation in that song.
Overall, I would say that this was a good Gig and it was good that the Gig was devided into two stages so that the Bands could perform comfortably and confidently and would not have any problems, However before the start of each and every performance, the performance took a little time to tune their instruments, especially the Guitarists and Bass players but it was still ok,Which was why they could perform well.
I also liked Mimi Singing one of her songs and one of the songs which Inspired me the most was a song which basically talks about life meaning one of her original songs and as she kept singing her songs, There were also some pictures on the screen of her family and when she was with Mathew. There were also some short video clips related to when she was with Mathew.
I had thanked my band members who performed well with me in the Gig and also special thanks to some of the music production students to perform in the Gig.
Before the performance started, I enjoyed listening to the tracks which the music production people made like some of them like Kessana who made an EP3 and many other students who made their tracks to make it sound nice for people to hear and listen to some music before the actual performance started.
One of Grant's sound engineers liked the song Wavin Flag by K'naan when I performed in the Gig last night because my singing was sounding very good while playing the piano using Guitar/Bass sounds. I also gave the introduction to the songs very nicely as I had to give and I was the leader of my band. I had first included Marco and Hasna in my band as well but unfortunately they had to
decline their positions due to personal situations, but I was happy with the way the band members performed with me and there was quite enough of band members to rehearse and perform with me in last evening Gig. In the beginning of this project, I was just forming opinions of band members.
Olly was very pleased with the performance that happened last night in the Gig. Grant was also very pleased with my singing especially in the sound check and he said that it was sounding very good. After the Gig got over, I planned to meet my teachers and they were very happy with the way I performed.

FMP- Week 6 Final major project overview and Progress updates/ Diary
What I can say for this project that this was a good one as I had planned to do a performance based work. First, In my proposal and in my other blog post, My actual focus was that I would do some work related to Indian classical and western classical, but unfortunately in the middle of this project, I had to do research, a case study and other things related to pop music because of the songs I performed in the gig which were Wavin Flag by K'naan and American boy by Estelle. What I can say that the research which I did from the beginning of this project was good, even though when I started doing some irrelevant research which was not part of my final product. But now, I did relevant research for my project for writing something in my own words and also referring to little bit if the texts in the articles and put them all in the bibliography using Harvard referencing tool and the links in the bibliography consist of two sets and these are the ones I did for the literature review and the one I did for the case study and to explain in brief, It means that the sources which are linked in my blog are the ones I had researched to put together in the bibliography, literature review and Case studies. I also summarised some of my research while giving my presentation and also spoke about what and why I had to change my project. For this project, What I can say is that, I had organised the songs, lyrics of the songs of my choice very well and we could perform very well in the Gig. Now as my deadline is approaching, I have done lot of work for my FMP and will try and make more use of the time I have like taking help from my student support tutor named Elliot and will make use of the kind of help I have. In the literature review, I made use of the student support I have and also did more of my written work on my own as well like after every single rehearsal, I spoke about what went well and what I should've done more and similar to one case study I had researched named "Portugal: The Man, which I spoke about in one of my previous posts. What I plan to achieve from this project is when I start to work as a musician, and also when I am in university, I will organise myself in such a way that I will actually tell my band members that when we are going to rehearse. Reffering to my rehearsals for the Gig now is that, I had to keep asking my band members, when were they free to rehearse with me. Why I had to keep asking them was because they were also in so many songs for the gig. What I am saying is that the way I had organised a group of band Members to perform with me in the Gig, and also the songs which I had selected to perform in the Gig were not bad, but in the future, I can do even much more better than this. My voice sounded very good when I sang Wavin Flag in the Gig. People in the audience and Reece who was the bass player who performed with me in the gig began to wave their hands while we were performing. FMP-The kind of work I did so far for my literature review/Weekly updates
The kind of work I did so fat in my literature review was that I took help from Elliot who is my student support tutor, and I took 3-4 Sources from my Bibliography related to Pop music and wrote about them in my own words. Also when I wrote about the history of Pop music, it was similar to that. I also researched about Indian Pop music and put it in the bibliography using Harvard reference tool and wrote a little bit about it in my own words. I haven't got the actual videos of us, when we were performing in the Gig, but I linked the actual songs named Wavin Flag by K'naan and American boy by Estelle, to show some evidence on how the songs go like and also somebody or the other might want to hear these songs. During my rehearsals for the Gig, I had Recorded some of the Songs which we had performed in the Gig. It is in the Precious posts labelled FMP-Castle of Glass recording, FMP- American Boy recording etc. Basically including what I actually did in the band rehearsals so far to perform in the Gig. Now, I have also included and made it in sequence in the Bibliography using Harvard referencing tool and put in the literature review. The name of the source is Pop music is also known as Pop Pop music was a great leveller. Now it's a bespoke plaything for the rich.
