Production/performance planning

Welcome trust visit 1

The welcome trust where we went last week was an amazing experience but Ok.When we arrived there,we first went upstairs to a room and one man told us what tasks are we going to do at the time of the visit. So,first we went to the gallery and looked at things related to electricity and in the paper,it was written to find out the following things and write about them,it had 3 stages including a presentation we had to make how music was made with electricity,This task went Ok but we couldn't complete it because It took time for us to look and write about and make short presentations of what we learnt.

What I learnt from this task is that music can be played with electricity, like we saw a bulb which is used for electricity.

The next task was that We went back upstairs to the room where we were, and we did an experiment,on how to make music with electric equipment,So first of all the guide showed how he was doing it,He connected his phone to the wire and music was being played on his phone, and as the music was being played, the electric equipment such as the plate was moving along with it up and down. Then we sat in our places and used the electric equipment which the previous group was using, the there was an equipment given to us and we made a musical drum sound with it and there were speakers connected and then when the time was up and the other group came from the gallery,we shared what we did,Like I was playing a drum with the equipment with two people Jacob and Danioll. We made an amazing drum sound with the equipment, and Of course others as well, after that the other group who went to the gallery, gave short presentations of what they did.

In this instrumental workshop, what I learnt is that You can make music using electric equipment anywhere,by playing music on your phone and using sticks to play drum but one must connect tit to the equipment and it should be very clear for listening and especially using from input to output.

The task I liked best was the nostrum entail one because it was easy for us to make music whatever came into our mind. The Gallery task was quite tough, because it took us a long time trying to finish the task of 3 stages which was given to us,but it was good because we participated and utilized our time going around the gallery and doing things high were related to the task which was given to us.

Another thing which I forgot to mention is that,When I came back to the room where we had a talk about what the visit was going to be like, with my group after seeing the gallery,We shared our presentations and the other group was showing how they made their music using technology of the electric equipment.

This was an amazing experience, and we use electric equipment for other things like making models.

When we went to the gallery,we saw all the things of electricity and how it can be used in music such as the screen in which the molecules were moving in Circles, the musical tune was being played.

Today's Easter gig was fantastic,I had been practicing and recaping my parts a lot in my free time,For pink matter which was a cover,I listened to the song on YouTube and played accordingly as how I did with my band members. I had also been practicing with my band using technology and it was a new thing which I learnt including the vocal transformer which is a type of music equipment as to how the voice would like to sound and the Minibrute analog Synthesiser which is like a keyboard but small in size as compared to an original one. I enjoyed playing the bass sound on it and the normal keyboard and Piano. For the first original,I played the original big keyboard,For pink matter cover I played the piano and in the second original,I played the Minibrute analog synthesiser. We named our first original Do you know my name? and the second original,we named it Need the kind of love.It was an amazing event and the use of technology helped us very well to practice, rehearse and perform. This gig was better than the practice gig because,We changed some of the parts in the original Need the kind of love and two other songs.I looked around the theatre while performing and moving my head with the beat but focused more on the keyboard and kept in eye contact with the band members especially the guitarist and drummer. So,the band consists of Reece(guitarist),Junior(Drummer),Hasna and Marco (Singers) And I played the piano,Minibrute and normal keyboard. In the practice gig,We played Need the kind of love only. Both the gigs were very good but the final one was the best.I enjoyed practicing with the band and practicing individually. We had a good sense of rhythm,Confidence and enthusiasm while performing. I also liked the other bands as well and especially the song roll and smoke by Alyx,Russa,Jansen,Kenny and Shade and everyone's performances of this entire Easter gig. We named our band Soulfoultrigger and we were the last who performed for the gig.

Problems which I overcame were that sometimes, when I had problem connecting the new equipment to the output and tried to make sure that they were connected to the right places. Finally I managed to do that and also I had been playing out of time when rehearsing but kept practicing and made this a better performance with the band members. I always communicated with my band members as to what I needed to do and we all prepared to perform well in the Easter gig.

And this one gives you the videos of the performances which we did for our practice gig.

These all consist of how I had been working from the beginning of the funky junk project band for the Easter gig.

Band workshop session today assessment 1 for Easter gig

Today,We had to perform one of our songs using the new equipment especially the Minibrute analog synthesiser and vocal transformer. We performed our original song today and it was neat the candil law,Something like that.I could play the notes very well on the  keyboard. Hence the performance went very well, for our Easter gig,I will perform much more better with my band including the cover which is a song called pink matter.Hnce,I am doing well.I practice a lot from time to time.

http://ollysellwood.blogspot.co.uk/2017/02/band-workshop-funky-junk-run-through-gig.html

This is the run through gig which we had yesterday as part of the 1st assessment for the Easter gig which we have time till March 14th. Band no 1.Thursday, 23 February 2017

Feedback from the funky junk run through

For my feedback,It was a good performance which we did for the practice gig,but Olly told me that While I am performing,I should not look at one place continuously,I should be looking around and all of us should enjoy more as to what we are doing. Of course,I was enjoying as I moved with the beat and playing the bass synth sound on the Minibrute analog synthesiser. But we all will keep working in the band workshop and Songwriting sessions to make it a good Easter gig.

Channel EQ for a music producer

We use channel EQ for working on the sounds of the instruments and Audio vocal voices which we put in our track/Logic projects. We use it to determine the sounds meaning Amplitude which is determined by the loudness and softness of a Sound. The maximum displacement of the storage of Instruments which are there is known as amplitude. What happens is that if we work on the volumes and panning,It works on how the sound is going to work,Whether we will be able to hear from 1 ear or two ears. The numbers which are shown for panning and volume and if it is red, meaning something is very loud and we need to make sure that vocals should be clear to hear.Vocals sound much more clear with the drums, piano purcussion and other instruments which are played from time to time.

About my rehearsal Diary

For my recital Diary,I have been showing what I had been doing in my band workshop and songwriting sessions and instrumentation technique lessons and it consists of:-

Bass notes of my Original song with the band on the Minibrute Keyboard and about the equipment.
(Song named need the candle)
About the vocal transformer

Scales of C,G and F major with contrary motion

Original Song related to Breakfast which I did in my Peri lessons

Chords for Pink matter originally while practicing myself

Little bit  of Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence

Making of my own music with the black keys on the piano

K'naan-Wavin flag

One direction-Drag me down and so on.

These are in my previous posts and the areas of weaknesses which show only are only about the figuring of the scales when I play fast. In the songs One direction Drag me down and Wavin flag by K'naan,I messed up a little bit but will improve in the performance on Wednesday 1st of March. My rehearsal diary is about what I had been learning in Peri lessons,Band workshop and Songwriting Sessions and two contrasting pieces on my own to become a good pianist/Soloist while I perform. Whatever I had been doing in my peri lessons,I had uploaded into my blog and why I did for my Band workshop and Songwriting sessions is because I wanted to show How I am playing the Piano/Minibrute Keyboard with my band and How I individually do my practice. For the Original Song which was related to breakfast,I had first recorded it on my phone and then take a video of it.Later on,I played it on the piano and sang along with it.

Logic demo/Portfolio

What I had been doing today is that I continued doing something similar but adding a drummer refferring to the artists which were shown in Logic and Audio from the Audio files into my track and creating and recording more instruments,Basically,I am just putting my practice into the task which was given and doing some mixing and putting the instruments close to each other and so on. I had also been using the modifier and modulator. I had also been increasing and decreasing to make the bars where they are supposed to be for the instruments to be played and for how much time should the track last for. Any instrument you choose,If you select the chord trigger,The amount of notes are played altogether to make an exact chord.

Technology in context

Part 1) Choose two contrasting artists that use technology in their music and analyse how they use this inventively, referring to research.
One of the best known works of technology-based performance art is Electric Dress (1956) by Gutai artist Atsuko Tanaka. It was a wearable sculpture consisting of electrical wires and lit up, colored light bulbs that she wore to various art openings. The work was inspired both by neon lights of a commercial advertisement and by the analogous relationship of electrical and biological circuitry.
https://youtu.be/wUV-v3xI7Lw
This link gives the video of Electric Dress (1956) by Gutai artist Tanaka.

Nam June Paik, an artist associated with Fluxus, developed TV cello (1971) for his longtime collaborator Charlotte Moorman. The piece mixed live musical performance with pre-recorded broadcast ( or live broadcast), playing with issues of simultaneity, mediation ,and mass media. Three televisions made up the body of the cello, and displayed a direct feed of the performance itself,a video collage of other cellists, and an intercepted broadcast.
https://youtu.be/-9lnbIGHzUM
This link gives the video of the following of my 2nd artist,Nam June, an artist associated with Fluxus, developed TV cello(1971) for his longtime collaborator Charlotte Moorman.
Atsuko Tanaka:-

Her best known work is Electric Dress, invented in 1956,a burqa-like costume consisting of electric wires and lit up coloured light bulbs. Tanaka wore the dress to exhibitions. Her inspiration for her signature work Electric Dress was from a pharmaceutical advertisement illuminated by neon lights. The bulky garment expresses the body's circuitry, and acts like a costume. Here, the work lights up sporadically, giving off the sensation of an alien-like creature and, according to Tanaka, "blinks like fireworks." According to the Gutai artists,Tanaka's work symbolised post war Japan's rapid transformation and urbanisation. When Tanaka wore her dress for the first time, her face and hands were the only visible subject. She had noticed the trepidation when she had worn it and flipping the switch: "I had the fleeting thought: Is this how a death-row inmate would feel?".

Nam June Paik:Global Visionary

The artwork and ideas of the Korean-born artist Nam June Paik were a major influence on late twentieth-century art and continue to inspire a new generation of artists. Nam June Paik: Global Visionary offers an unprecedented view into the artists creative method by featuring key artworks that convey Paik's extraordinary accomplishments as a major international artist as well as material drawn  from the Nam June Paik Archive, which was acquired by the Smithsonian American Art Museum from the artists estate in 2009.
Part 2) Explain (with examples) how you have been using technology in your own practice, to what effect, and how you have been influenced by other artists.
My equipment also includes extra wires to connect to the Output amps to listen to the Output when We are using the Mini brute analog synthesiser and Vocal transformer,There is also a speaker in my Band which is called a Guitar amp.I have spoken about it below and have added some extra about it.
Equipment which I use for my band.Voice transformer which is used for singers for tuning the parts into vocoder a etc for the voices to be reflected. Minibrute keyboard which is used for playing instruments like bass etc. It is smaller and slightly different to the normal keyboard and piano. In  Minibrute keyboards we can tune to wave sounds as well.

Ampere is a main extension chords which are added to the equipment.

Along with the equipment,There are other wires which are connected to the speakers so that it can be loud enough while playing and performing on stage.

Whenever,I am connecting the Minibrute Keyboard to the output where it is supposed to be,I don't have any problem and I know how to tune it and play the bass in it which I am supposed to play in our band. The vocal transformer and Minibrute keyboard are new to me for this funky junk project. However, there is a little bit of problem because there are other amps as well and I need to make sure whether it is connected to the bass amp for it to be connected to the output for it to be play properly.

Now a days,We just use the amps which are in the room itself so that we can connect the extra wires for outputs. We also use, other type of equipments for the guitar like guitar amp etc.

How I got influenced by other artists:-

A new Way to play:-

Stems is a completely new way to DJ. Stems is a new format for music that redefines creative live performance. Create spontaneous edits,a cap peals, instrumentalists, and more with you tracks' musical elements available independently.
Sampling
https://plus.google.com/117879285261463035507/posts/57Y6QmaDWWC
Sampling,is when you generally take a pre existing piece and you can put them in your own music.

Innovative open source technologies:-

New technologies in development often start out as open source(freely available to all) so that they can be further developed and built upon.

Gestural music ware by Imogen Heap:-

The Gloves are a cutting experimental gestural music ware being developed today for the purpose of Imogen Heap's studio and stage work.

Using a unique gestural vocabulary,motion data-capture systems, and user interfaces to parameter functions developed by Imogen Heap and her team, artists and other users will be able to use their motion to guide computer -based digital creations. The Musical Gloves are both an instrument and a controller effect, designed to connect the user fluidly with gear performers usually use,such as Ableton-think minorityreport for musicians brought to you by the DIY/maker revolution.

How might I develop or if I am to use these type of technologies in my own music is that in my band practices to prepare for upcoming performances,I will pay attention and learn how to use and take a picture of the equipment I am using and practice it a lot and get better and better.Similarly, when we learn new things in Life.

In general, the musical features approach is found in many different schools and locations, bothnationally and internationally and so there is evidence that it basic principles are replicable and
also adaptable. At Morpeth ,the programme is not genre specific and works across all age phrases, aswell as with technology.Harrogate regards the approach as good music teaching and
has first-hand evidence of the positive impact of the approach, including the encouragement of teachers to act as musicians with their pupils," Music teachers shouldn't be afraid to sing or play for students".Steyning reports that the approaches with older pupils are replicable in other settings, suggesting that,in more challenging schools,it could be simpler to set the different types of vocational and academic qualifications as separate options.

Sampling:-

Sampling is when you take a pre existing or an old piece of music from an old album and putting into you're own track.

Music production controllers:-

Akai MPCs (originally MIDI Production CenternowMusic Production Controller) are a popular
series of electronic musical instruments originally designed by Roger Linn and produced by the Japanese company Akai from 1988 onward. Intended to function as a powerful kind of drum
machine, the MPCs drew on design ideas from machines such as the Sequential Circuits Inc.
Studio 440 and the Linn's own Linn 9000, combining a powerful MIDI sequencer with the ability to sample one's own sound.

Masculine is a hybrid hardware/software digital audio workstation developed by Native Instruments. Maschine consists of a controller that connects to the included sequencing software, which can be installed on any compatible computer or laptop.

The software is primarily based on drum sequencing and designed for use with the Maschine line of hardware controllers. Users assign drum kits ,instruments and sounds from the included library, toeach of the controller's 16 pads,and can manipulate sounds further by applying effects and plugins.

Maschine was first released on April 1,2009, in a package that contained the original iteration of the hardware controller and Maschine software 1.0.

Abelton AG is a Berlin-based music software company that produces and distributes the production
and performance program Abelton Live and a collection of related instruments and sample libraries, aswell as their own software controller Ableton Push.

Ableton was founded in 1999 by Gerhard Behles,Robert Henke of Monolake and Bernd Roggendorf.

Akai's products included reel-to-reel audiotape recorders(such as the GX series),tuners(top level AT,mid level TR and TT series).

If I create a video teaser myself, then whatever came into my mind,I would create that while making my own track in logic as I am right now working as a music producer.Hence it is interesting.

The art of noise:how music recording has changed over decades:-

Technology provides crystal clear recordings of all the music in the world,at little or no cost. But,as a

historical audio installation opens at the science Musuem, composer Christopher Fox asks why we won't let go ofkour musical past.

History of sound recording:-

Experiments in capturing sound on a recording medium for preservation and reproduction began in earnest during the Industrial Revolution of the 1800s. Many pioneering attempts to record and
reproduce sound were made during the latter half of the 19th century-notably Scott's Phonautographof 1857 - and these efforts culminated in the invention of the phonograph, patented
by Thomas Edison in 1877.

The history of sound recording- which has progressed in waves, driven by the invention and commercial introduction of new technologies-can be roughly divided into four main periods:-

the " Acoustic". era,1877 to 1925

the "Electrical" era, 1877 to 1925(including sound on film)

the "Magnetic" era,1945

the " Digital" Era,1975 to the present day.

Effect of Errors and Delays in Inventory Reporting on Production System Performance:-

Abstract:-

A discrete linear control has been used by the authors to examine the performance of multi-level,multi-product production control systems operating in an environment where system errors are expected. The basic method was reported in and it's use to examine system structures and system implementation sequences was discussed in (2). Production control systems operate in an uncertain
environment.Besides the commonly considered uncertainties in demand, yield, quality and delivery times, errors frequently exist in basic data such as bills of materials and occur in stock records as a result of incorrect or late transaction recording. This paper presents the basic discrete linear control representation of MRP and ROC systems, shows how these representations may be modified to include certain types of internal system error, before examining the effects of delays in stock
recoding and of recording errors on the performance of the system.Performance measures include the effects on schedules, planned stock and delivery performance.

Live looping:-

Live looping is the recording and playback of a piece of music in real-time using either dedicated hardware devices, called loopers or phrase samplers,or software running on a computer with an audio interface. Musicians can loop with either laptop software or loop pedals which are sold for tabletopand floor-based use.

Notable artists:-

In a 2012-13 poll of 1000 singers,11 percent stated that they used live looping while 51 percent did not know what live looping was. Artists known for their use or advocacy of the technique include:-

Ed  Sheeran:-
vnd.youtube:Ksekm7JYzGw
By now,we've all heard his radio hits, from "The A Team" to"Photograph" and "Thinking Out Load".Hebasically is on fire. What you may not know that he is a great looper artist.

Don't (Capital Session)
Published on 24 July 2014. Ed Sheeran came by the Capital FM live studio to sing us a few of his new tracks. This is a stripped-back,acoustic version of his new track Don't.

I knew Top 40 artist Sheeran started out looping but I had assumed he picked up a full band once he got famous.Apparently he still tours solo with looper.Cool.

Dub FX:-

Dub FX,stylised also Dub Fx and DubFx,(real name Benjamen Stanford) is a worldwide street performer and studio recording artist from St Kilda,Melbourne,Australia. At the start of his career he was singing in a local alternative rock and rapcore band initially known as Twitch, which would later change its name 2004 they released a debut and the only album Exeunt Omnes.

Dub FX is completely independent, using only live performance, word of mouth,Internet social networking, and a number of easily accessible free.

Dub FX started off with a Boss GT-6 multi-effects pedal which he then traded up for the GT -8,and now uses a Boss GT-10B bass guitar effects pedal for nearly all the effects used over his voice.

One of the earliest mega-breakthrough YouTube looping stars, famous for his solo work, how looping with a full band.
