Introduction
•Good Morning everyone!
•Today I am going to give a presentation on my progress in the final major project.
•This project is about performance based work and is focused on the Contrast between different styles of modern pop music.

What I’ve Done So far
Performance
•I have chosen three songs to perform for the summer Gig with my band members Kenny (Drums), Alyx (Vocals), Kessanna(Vocals/Piano), and Reece (Guitar/ Bass).
•I have given them the chords and lyrics of the songs so that all of us can rehearse together as a band. I had also practiced the chords on the piano and keyboard myself.
•The songs we will perform are:
●Castle of Glass - Linkin Park
●Wavin Flag by K’naan, and
●American boy by Estelle.
What I’ve Done So far
Research
•Originally I was researching about the relationship between Indian and western music, but now the project has changed to being about pop music due to the songs which we are performing for the gig.
•I will be doing a case study on Linkin Park as they are a band which is a range of musical influences but make pop music.
•I will also be examining the influence of musical styles on pop music as well as different song writing techniques in modern pop music. This can be seen in the diverse songs the band will be performing.

What I’ve learnt
•What I’ve learnt from this project is to keep practicing and rehearsing my skills and when I choose a group of band members in the future, I will be very organised.
•I have been composing my own pieces on the piano, meaning that I can make my own music.
•Overall, I can say that this project helps me to prepare for being independent as I go ahead.
•For my research I had been referring to other case studies, one which inspired me the most was about “Portugal-The Man”. It talks about how he had been working towards becoming a musician and expressing the ways to work with the band members we choose for ourselves, it also talks about the importance of individual practice in order to improve the bands performance.
Progress
•I have been composing my own pieces on the piano,meaning that I can make my own music with the black and white keys on the piano.
•I had been researching many articles and case studies and Indian and western music history as part of my project related to music. It was good but it wasn’t relevant as to what I am performing with my band members for the gig, which is why I had to change my project to pop music because the songs which I am performing for the gig are all related to pop music.
•From my opinion,I have chosen the group band members from my choice and we could rehearse together very little and I recaped my parts of the chords of the songs on my own,The band members who are singing need to learn the lyrics and also I will keep working o n my parts of the songs.
What I still need to do..
•I need to make a new literature review of my new research and put the sources in the bibliography and link it as part of my new project. I need to find out about more sources and put them together in a literature review where I talk about it in my own words.
•I need to go into detail of Linkin Park and write about something in my own words related to it.
